The AU6600 high speed electric atomiser has been specially designed to produce very small spray particles necessary for public health mosquito control. This allows aerial operators and public health authorities to apply minimal doses of insecticide in precisely controlled droplet sizes optimised to deliver minute quantities of pesticide to adult mosquitoes and flies and minimise waste. The use of very small uniform droplets of the appropriate size improves penetration into dense vegetation yet reduces fallout to the ground or to water surfaces. Suitable for installation on helicopters or fixed wing aircraft, the Micronair AU6600 incorporates a high speed electric motor, a 4” fine mesh gauze rotating at speeds up to 15,000 RPM, an anti drip diaphragm check valve, flow control and boom clamp. The Micronair AU6600 is constructed from chemically resistant materials (including a PTFE feed distributor) and is fully compatible with all ULV mosquito control products including Dibrom (Naled). The Micronair AU6600 can be supplied with an optional application monitor and flowmeter turbine to measure and display the output from the aircraft. Micronair rotary atomisers have set the standard in specialist aerial application operations for over 45 years and the addition of the AU6600 provides operators and health authorities with a purpose designed unit for mosquito control.

Applications in Public health (mosquito and fly control)

Benefits:

Supplied with:

Precise Flow Control

The flow to each atomiser is controlled by a variable restrictor unit (VRU). This provides finger-tip control of the flow by the adjustment of a 7-position control knob.

VRUs are supplied with fittings and adaptors for the standard nozzle outlets found on most booms. This eliminates the need for any special pipework or modifications of the boom.

Overall flow from the aircraft is regulated by the boom pressure in exactly the same way as a conventional nozzle spray system.

The optional Micronair application monitor gives the pilot an accurate display of the actual application rate.

Optimal Drop Size control

The Micronair AU6600 high speed electric atomiser has been developed to provide an optimal spray droplet size for adult mosquito control and maximising the proportion of pesticide in the 7 – 22 µm range. Independent tests at the Lee County Mosquito Control District wind tunnel with a Malvern laser particle size analyser indicated VMDs (Volume Median Diameters) as low as 18 – 25 µm. The proportion of spray between 7 – 22 µm is between 40 – 50% superior to most nozzle types. Droplet size can be increased if required by reducing atomiser rotational speed with a speed controller. Each atomiser is supplied with a complete installation kit including a mounting clamp, diaphragm check valve, variable restrictor unit (VRU) and all necessary hoses, fittings etc.

The mounting clamps supplied with AU6600 atomisers are available for a wide range of round and streamline section spray booms.

Positive Shut-Off

Every atomiser is supplied with a diaphragm check valve. This ensures an immediate and precise shut-off at the end of each spray run and eliminates the risk of chemical leakage on the ground.

Chemical Resistance

The AU6600 has been specifically designed to incorporate chemically resistant materials including highly aggressive acid materials such as Dibrom. The feed distributor is made entirely from chemically inert PTFE and the gauze assembly from Monel. AU6600 atomisers are ideally suited for use on helicopters and on fixed wing aircraft.
